William Tinney, known as “Bill” to his friends, had been a Rotarian for many years when he helped establish and became a charter member of the Metropolitan Lubbock Rotary Club. Bill was a longtime civic leader and former Director of Development for Texas Tech University and the Health Sciences Center. He served on numerous civic boards in Lubbock and volunteered many hours, helping agencies give aid to those in need. Bill was an inspiration to many individuals and his integrity was admired by all. The William H. Tinney Ethics in Business Award was created in 1990. We annually honor the memory Bill Tinney and his life of service and professional integrity by presenting this award to an outstanding Lubbock citizen who practices these principles in their personal and business life.
