Club Meeting: Tom Day - North Pole Ice Loss

Ice at the North Pole describes the current situation up there.  The connection between melting northern ice and sea level rise will be explained.  Illustrations will include satellite photos from the last 30 years, a time-lapse video, and an overview of Earth's other large bodies of ice: Greenland and Antarctica.

Tom Day will draw on his extensive reading on this subject which includes: 1)  Climate Wars by Gwynne Dyer; 2) the New Climate War: The Fight to Take Back Our Planet by Michael Mann; 3) The Ice at the End of the World by Jon Gertner; and 4) This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate by Naomi Klein.  Mr. Day follows "Climate Adam" and Peter Beckwith on YouTube and Katherine Heyhoe on Twitter.  Come join us for what's sure to be a very interesting presentation!

Schedule - Doors open at 6 pm, Dinner at 6:30 pm, and Meeting starts at 7:00.

The evening's dinner main course will be Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes catered by Chef Suzanne of the American Legion.

If you are not eating and will be attending, still RSVP and note in the comments section 'no meal.'  You have a choice to come at 6:00 to socialize, dinner at 6:20 (if you plan to eat), or come at 7:00 if you only want to come for the meeting and presentation.  If you are attending via ZOOM, no action is necessary, just log-in at 7:00 pm.  Be sure to let us know if you have a guest coming as well.
