Dear Fellow Rotarians,
Tempus fugit! The first month of the new Rotary Year 2020-21 is now in the books.  Time truly flies by.
Just a few weeks ago we held the Handover and Installation of the new Board of Directors on July 2, 2020 to officially kick off the new Rotary Year. The following week we met on July 8th in our new meeting venue, a private room next to the Niji Japanese Restaurant at the Hyatt Hotel.  For those who were not in attendance I shared the following: [1] RI President Holger Knaack’s Presidential Theme, Rotary Opens Opportunities, [2] District Governor Yuichi Fukuhara’s Theme, Barrier-Free Mind and [3] RCNG Strategic Action Plan 2020-21.
Paul Harris Fellows. Thank you Alona for becoming RCNG’s 1st Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) for 2020-21.  Her $1,000 donation will now make her a PHF+1.  Dir. Ina has also made her $1,000 donation and will be receiving her very first PHF recognition.  PP Anna and I have also committed to becoming a PHF this year.  If you want to become a PHF please contact Dir. Jane Ray, The Rotary Foundation Chair.
6 o’clock Somewhere is the name of our 3rd meeting opportunity.  Every 3rd Thursday 6pm-8pm is a social fellowship designed to be casual, fun and relaxing.  We had our first social fellowship on July 16th at the Outback Steakhouse outdoor patio.  It was an evening to remember!  Rtn Elisabeth can tell you all about it. Club Service Director, PP Roberto, will be announcing a new venue…Somewhere… every month.  If you have a special venue in mind please contact PP Roberto.
Board Meeting. Your Leadership Team held its first official meeting on July 23rd.  Highlights of the meeting will be shared with the membership during the Aug. 5th luncheon meeting.
Recruiting & Growing our Membership.  Recruiting more women and more members under the age of 40 will be a priority this year.  Clubs that achieve a female membership ratio of 20% or more and a membership ratio of 5% or more under the age of 40 will be given a District Special Award.  With your support RCNG will achieve these goals and earn this special award.
August is Membership Development Month.  Membership Committee Chair, VP/PP Ed Cruz, will be proposing alternative membership models.  RI and D2750 want clubs to recruit more members who will be a right fit for our club.  If you haven’t recruited anyone for our Club now is the time.  Let’s grow stronger.
Help Us Help the Homeless. RCNG performed its first charitable donation by purchasing toiletries in support of the Lieutenant Governor’s HELP US THE HOMELESS initiative.  Items were delivered to Adelup on July 24, 2020.
1ST Service Project.  Un sen dangku’lo na si Yu’os ma’ase to all the members who participated in our first service project of the year - Island Pride Beautification Event last August 1st.  I can’t thank you enough for the “sweat equity” you’ve invested.  Service Projects Committee Chair, Ina Lee, will be announcing other service projects in due time.
Rotary Opens Opportunities.  I know that all of us came to Rotary to get involved and to make a difference…. so let’s show the community that RCNG Cares….RCNG Inspires….by seizing opportunities to doing more good for our brothers and sisters.  The Leadership Team and I need your support and encouragement and, above all, we value your “sweat equity” whenever there’s a service project.  We can’t do it ourselves. Therefore, I implore you to find once again the inspiration, the excitement and the passion to be a People of Action this new Rotary Year.  Can I count on you?
Yours in Rotary,  P Hermie
