It's a Carlsbad tradition: Saturday, October 6, is the 36th Annual Carlsbad Rotary Oktoberfest and Family Fall Festival held at Holiday Park, Carlsbad from noon to 10 pm (with meal service concluding at 7:30 pm). With German meals, music, dancing, children's activities, beer, wine and friends it's a wonderful day to share the great weather and have some fun. Admission is $5 (children under 10 are free). Food service includes German meals (sausage, potato salad, cabbage; or a quarter-chicken and those same sides). Also available are sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, corn dogs, fries, strudel, pumpkin pie, pretzels, kettlecorn, ice cream and cotton candy . . . all the time you are enjoying those tasty treats you are also enjoying the music, the chicken dance, the costume contest and the laughter.
Both Carlsbad Rotary and Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary have been producing this community event together for 36 years. It is a fundraiser. The funds are used to support the service projects of each club and the charities in the community. Rotary is a service club of professionals who work together . . . the Rotary motto "Service Above Self" shows in the multitude of projects of each club.
