Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC)

Harold joined Rotary in 1977 and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Crows Nest in Rotary International District 9685.

When employed as the Director of Community Relations and Marketing at the Royal NSW Institute for Deaf and Blind Children. Harold organised the Tunnel Walk and Day of Celebration held in conjunction with the Opening of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel in 1992. This involved over 2000 Rotarians from the then three Rotary Districts encompassing Sydney who acted as Marshalls and Volunteers on the day – an event which saw 350,000 people walk through the tunnel on that day, raising over $750,000 for the Charity.

Harold held the position of Club President of Crows Nest in 1996 and Governor for the then District 9680 in 2002-03.

Harold has held many board positions both at club and district level and was part of the organising committee for the Rotary International Convention held in Sydney in 2014.  He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a recipient of the prestigious Rotary International Service Above Self award.

He was awarded an OAM in June 2020 for Service to the Community and Charity Initiatives.

Harold is currently Chairman of ROMAC – Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children – an official project of Rotary International which brings children from the Pacific Region to Australian and New Zealand hospitals for life-saving or dignity restoring surgery which is not available to them in their home country.
