    This Day in History
    • 1475 – Michelangelo was born.
    • 1897 – Bayer patents the aspirin
    • 1836 – The Battle of the Alamo. Today is the 183rd anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo. At dawn on March 6, 1836, Santa Anna launched his final attack of the Alamo and the Texians were defeated after a 13 day siege. The number varies but my history said there were 189 defenders of the Alamo against 1,500 – 2,000 of the Mexican Army. The defenders were from all over the U.S and many were from other countries. 45 days later, Santa Anna would be defeated by Sam Houston and the Texan army at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21st and that is why we celebrate Fiesta.
