  • 1953 – Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay became the first explorers to reach the summit of Mount Everest which at 29,035 feet is the highest point on earth.

  • 1848 – Wisconsin becomes a State

  • 1917 - Future Pres. John F. Kennedy is born

  • 1940 – The song White Christmas is written – and the version sung by Bing Crosby is the world’s best selling single with sales in excess of 50 million. It was used initially in the movie Holiday Inn and won an Academy Award for best Original Song in 1942. Then he sang it again in his 1954 musical “White Christmas”.
