  •  National Juice Slush Day – no rush, go slush
  • National Chocolate Chip Day – in 1937, Ruth Graves while working at the Toll House Inn decided to add a little chocolate to her cookies. Her cookies were a huge success and she signed a contract with the Nestle brand for her recipe which became Toll House Cookies.
  • National Nylon Stocking Day – Pantyhose were introduced in 1959.
  • Peace Officers Memorial Day – part of Police Week, paying tribute to local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Officers. Flags are flown at half- staff on this day in memory of those officers that have we have lost while in the line of duty.

  • 1972 – Governor George Wallace was shot
  • 1937 – Madeline Albright was born in the Czech Republic, she and her family fled to England in 1939 to escape the concentration camps. They immigrated to the U.S. in 1948. She became the first female Secretary of State for the U.S in 1997.
  • 1900 – Frank Baum wrote a children’s book called “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, it was made into the movie, The Wizard of Oz in 1939 and has become the “Most Seen Film in Movie History”.
