Today our program included the installation of club officers. We were honored to have our District Governor Kathy Hubbard as our Master of Ceremonies.

Without further adieu it was award time!

Our members Fred Timmons and Rick Rhodes were honored by District Governor Kathy Hubbard for their levels of giving to the Rotary Foundation. Rick received his pin with 5 Sapphires and Fred received his pin for the next level with one Ruby.

District Governor Kathy shared that the month of June is a very busy time in Rotary. There is a sense of excitement and many opportunities. She said that she was "honored to work with President Fred this year." Further she commended the club for "selling raffle tickets."  She introduced the new 2019-2020 Board: Rick Tarbell, president. This will be Rick's second time to serve the club as president. Rick is a stock broker with the NFA firm. "This is the most important role in Rotary", Kathy said. She then introduced James Daniel, president elect. James is a Realtor and teaches technology for the Keller Williams Realty brokerage. James also serves on the Communications Team for District 5840. John Legris, vice president. John is a local practicing attorney and is the past president of the Leon Valley Rotary Club. Gloria Richter, speaker chair, Stuart Dudley, treasurer for another term and Mary Denton, secretary also for another term. Mary is also a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty. Fred Timmons will serve as immediate Past President. Fred is a CPA and the Principal at Clifton Larson Allen.

District Governor Kathy asked the board members if they would uphold the high standard goals of Rotary and lead the club into the future. She also asked the members of the club to stand and asked if they would commit to supporting the board in all endeavors. We all gave an enthusiastic "We will!!!"

Jerry Hardy, currently District Foundation Chair, and past District Governor was also our honored guest today. He shared with us that last year 39 Rotary clubs applied for district grants. He also mentioned that members are able to benefit Rotary through their estate and other ways.  For more information click HERE . We appreciate your service to Rotary and your support to our club Jerry! It's always a pleasure to see you.

President Rick announced that we are starting to organize committees for opportunities for club members to serve.  He passed around a list of committees for us to sign up. "We need committees to line up members. We don't want to be known as a checking writing club. Also maybe we can find new places this year for our club to support." Regarding the changing times, he said "At one time attendance used to be mandatory. Another requirement was to visit the club before and after induction. Now it's like chasing a puffy taco - there are no rules."  President Rick suggests that members plan to go to Interact Clubs. Clark High School's Interact Club volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and also volunteers for Blessings in a Backpack.

Fun fact:  Ken Ruiz was the one who invited (President) Rick to Rotary!
