Hands Across the World (HTW) was born out of a holiday Cindy Debes (pictured above) took to Siem Reap, Cambodia in 2013. There Cindy met KimHeak, a Tuk Tuk driver who was teaching English to local village children in a makeshift classroom underneath his stilt house. She was inspired by his enthusiasm to help the children of his village to better themselves with the knowledge of English in this tourist mecca featuring the majestic ruins of Angkor Wat and surrounding temples. The seed was sown to develop, in the end, three schools to support this endeavour; however, it soon became apparent that to bring out the best in these children, you needed a continuity of teachers with good English and modern teaching skills. In collaboration with other Non Government. Organisations (NGO's), the Interactive Teacher Training course (and more recently, a course to teach English Speaking in Public Schools (EPPS)) was developed and promoted by HTW to be the well-recognised and sought after program that it is now.
