The Rotary Club of Washington DC is in Rotary District 7620. It was chartered in July 1912 and was the forty sixth (46th) Rotary Club to be established in the USA. The first was the Rotary Club in Chicago in 1905. The Club has about 140 members, all successful professionals or retirees with a shared commitment to the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
Led by President Lisa McCurdy they meet every Wednesday, promptly 12:30-1:30 p.m., at the University Club, 1135 16th Street NW, Washington, DC. They sponsors two (2) Interact Clubs, CHEC Interact & Richard Wright PCS Interact, and two (2) Rotaract Clubs, DC and GW Rotaract.
 
 
Their other activities include the Dictionary Project where over the last ten years they have distributed around 50, 000 (English and English as a Second Language) to elementary students in 105 schools in Washington DC; the DC Duck Race; City Blossom Week; a Career Fair; Tree Planting,; Bingo Nights; and work as volunteers for the Salvation Army Grate Patrol to help the homeless
