The Rotary Club Herzogtum Lauenburg-Mölln, is one of around eight hundred and fifty (850) clubs in Germany and was Chartered on 15 December 1968. The club is in Rotary International District 1940, has 46 members led by President Udo Schlünsen. They meet on Thursdays at 7.30pm at Schröders Hotel Schwarzenbek. 2020/21 has been a significant year for them because they have supplied both the Rotary International President Holger Knaack (pictured below) and the District Governor Edgar Friedrich.

The Club is located near the Polish border and after District 1940 was given the task of acting as a leading and partner district the Club became and continues to be involved in many joint projects with neighbouring Clubs in the Polish border area. Amongst other things they’ve helped support outstanding students from Poland and other Eastern European countries attend university with around thirty (30) students receiving scholarships valued at 2.400 euros for one year. They also actively support The Rotary Foundation (TRF); Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE); the Polio Plus campaign; Vocational Training Teams (VTT) (previously known as Group Study Exchange (GSE)) and currently have a program running in South Africa to assist with nutrition and combat the side effects of COVID-19. This includes help for a hospital in Cape Town. Their local projects include support for the local Ambulance Service; for children with cancer; and for a Women’s refuge.
