Tuesday, November 29 – Service project at Cathedral Center - 5:30 - 7 p.m.

Once again, we will be providing a warm and nutritious meal for the women and children at the Cathedral Center.   We are also fortunate to have 2 "Angels" who are preparing and providing the dinner that we will be serving. Amigos Rotarians will provide dessert, salad, beverages, and smoothies.  There will also be a hands-on lesson on "how to read nutrition levels" with an eye toward comparing fat, sugar, sodium, and calories....even related to two different soups, chips, potatoes, etc. All foods used are accessible from stores convenient and affordable to Cathedral Center guests.

We are asking for members, friends, and those interested in helping to join us in serving the meal, interacting with the residents, and / or providing a donation to cover the cost of the meal extras and if possible, join us that night and help serve the dinner. If you are interested in attending, please contact Frey Faris. Click here to contact Frey.
If you are willing to donate, please contact Angie Rester with the information to do online donation or to mail check.  Click here to email her.

A VERY special Thank you to Bezawit Deneke and Mahader Weldemichael, two outstanding women originally from Ethiopia with their own business, B & M Accounting and Tax Service .  We can't thank you enough for your donation of the meal for 55 residents at Cathedral Center.

REMINDER - everyone is required to properly wear a mask and you will be Covid tested before entering food service areas.  PLEASE arrive by 5:30 p.m. so that we can promptly begin food service at 6 p.m.

Rotary Peace Fellows

Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centers.

Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops the capacity of peace and development professionals to become effective catalysts for peace. The fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and internship and field-study expenses.

Since the program began in 2002, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,500 fellows who now work in over 115 countries. Many serve as leaders in governments, NGOs, education and research institutions, peacekeeping and law enforcement agencies, and international organizations like the United Nations and the World Bank.

Our fellowships and where they work

The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for leaders with work experience in peace and development. Our fellows are committed to community and international service and the pursuit of peace. Each year, The Rotary Foundation awards up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 80 for certificate studies at premier universities.

Choose the program that's right for you

Master’s degree programs

Accepted candidates study peace and development issues with research-informed teaching and a diverse student body. The programs last 15 to 24 months and include a two- to three-month field study, which participants design themselves.

Professional development certificate program

During the one-year blended learning program, experienced peace and development professionals with diverse backgrounds gain practical skills to promote peace within their communities and across the globe. Fellows complete field studies, and they also design and carry out a social change initiative. This program is intended for working professionals. Fellows earn a post-graduate diploma upon completion of the program.

Application timeline

The 2023-24 Rotary Peace Fellowship application is now closed. The 2024-25 Rotary Peace Fellowship application will be available in February, 2023. Every year, districts must submit endorsed applications to The Rotary Foundation by 1 July. Review the endorsement instructions.

Our approach

We see peace not as an abstract concept but as a living, dynamic expression of human development. Peacebuilding is a cornerstone of our mission as a humanitarian service organization, and it is one of Rotary's areas of focus — the channels of activity through which our members make their mark on the world. Our programs, grants and fellowships focus on creating environments where peace can be built and maintained. Rotary believes that if concerned citizens work together to create peace locally, lasting change can happen globally.

Ending Polio is Closer than Ever - Only 2 Countries Left But Just a Plane Ride Away Until Fully Eradicated and we saw this in New York City recently

Rotarians and those not in Rotary can help make a difference!

Funding ensures that 400 million children receive vaccinations annually and enables continuous monitoring to help eliminate sources of the wild poliovirus.  This tracking is the “Plus” in PolioPlus and enables health professionals to locate sources of the virus and work with local agencies to eliminate them.

The systems established by the PolioPlus program have helped in controlling recent outbreaks of the COVID-19 virus, and the Ebola outbreak in Africa several years ago.  PolioPlus has helped raise the standard of health in countries worldwide and continues to pay benefits even where polio has been eliminated.

You join by committing to support the eradication effort with a minimum of $100 / year. NEED not be a Rotarian to be a part of eradicating this disease. You MUST go online to the Rotary District 6270 website and click on the link below.  Please join us in Ending Polio NOW!

Members of the Rotary District 6270 PolioPlus Society will receive a certificate and a specially designed PolioPlus Society lapel pin.

Quick Briefs

The Rotary District 6270 is looking for additional Rotarians to join the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee).  If you would like to learn more and / or to suggest programs, activities, and / or events, please contact Chair Angela Rester via this email link.

The Council on Resolutions meets online each year. Representatives from all of Rotary’s districts vote on resolutions proposed by clubs, districts, the RI Board of Directors, and the General Council or Conference of RIBI, as well as urgent enactments proposed by the RI Board. The RI Board will consider all resolutions that the Council adopts. Adopted urgent enactments amend Rotary’s constitutional documents. Learn more about the Council on Resolutions.
