The Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary Club is hosting this event, but partnering with the Greater Bangor Area Toys for Tots again this year to provide a festive community fundraiser.  This event will help provide toys to children in Penobscot, Piscataquis and Hancock counties, and support Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary Club Charities.  We provide scholarships to EMCC students, and donations to local organizations and projects that benefit children in need. 
 
The event features:  silent and live auction, hors d’oeuvres, full dinner (choice of chicken, prime rib, or vegetarian), dessert, cash bar, top shelf spirits raffle, instant wine cellar heads or tails game.  We’ll have presentations by:  Bangor Area Toys for Tots and the Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary Club & the 2016 Paul Harris Award.  Special guests will include:  U.S. Marine Corps Representatives with the Toys for Tots and Sgt. Tim Cotton & the Duck of Justice.  We’ll also have a Christmas tree for unwrapped toys for the Bangor Area Toys for Tots program.   Let's not forget mobile bidding!  Be sure to bring your fully charged smart phone!

Overview of Bangor Area Toys for Tots

The Greater Bangor Area Toys for Tots is dedicated to helping supplement toys for families in need at Christmas time. The US Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots have been providing toys to families since 1947. The Bangor Toys for Tots has provided toys to approximately 44,000 children for the last five years and is dedicated to the continue this for many more years to come. www.bangor-me.toysfortots.org

 

Overview (Bangor Breakfast Rotary Charities)

Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary provides donations and service in the Greater Bangor region and supports local, regional and international non-profits. The club’s priority for charitable giving locally is children at risk. Last year, Bangor Area Breakfast Charities donated more than $48,000 to non-profit organizations.

Additional Facts & Information:

  • Event Purpose: Funds raised from this event will go to Bangor Area Toys for Tots and to Bangor Area Breakfast Charities.

  • Sponsorships will be used to help provide toys for the Greater Bangor Area Toys for Tots program in Penobscot, Piscataquis and Hancock counties; and the Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary Club, whose priority for charitable giving locally is to children at risk and scholarships.

  • All funds raised will remain locally in the Bangor, Maine area. The event is run entirely by community minded volunteers.

  • Greater Bangor Area Toys for Tots has helped an average of 8,500 children per year of the last 5 years. Of the money raised, $.97 of each dollar goes towards purchasing toys and $.03 goes towards gift-wrapping.

  • National - Toys for Tots was established in 1947. Today The Marine Corp Reserves Toys for Tots foundation is working in over 700 communities nationwide. They’ve delivered over 494 million toys to needy children across the country. They distribute an average of 18 million toys to an average of 7 million children each year.

  • Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary Club, founded in 1989, donated $48,000 to our local community in the 2015-2016 Rotary year. From various projects such as: Coats for Kids, Bangor Area Toys for Tots, EMCC Scholarships, and many other local non-profits that support children in our community.

  • National – Rotary International (RI) was established in 1905. RI has identified specific causes to target to maximize our local and global impact. RI helps clubs focus their service efforts in promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.

  • Be a part of this exciting opportunity! Last year, 125 individuals attended the event and more than 60 local businesses helped us raise $26,000 for these two great organizations.

    No child should wake up without a gift under the tree; show him or her that someone cares. These two organizations want to impact the lives & happiness of children in our community.
