A committee consisting of the following members has been formed Noel Halford ( Chair), Jill Weeks, Rashi Kapoor, Vincent Chen and Kim D’Arcy.
 
This is a summary of their report:
 
 
 
  • Widespread understanding of the role of vocational Service in Rotary is not as well understood and this committee seeks to broaden the understanding of Rotary members and the wider community of this keystone avenue of service.
 
  • On a regular basis a contribution from this committee will appear in the Club Bulletin focusing on topical vocational issues.
 
  • Two planned activities scheduled as follows
1. A visit to the Brickworks Shopping Centre and residential Complex to consider the concept of sustainable living and the relationship with the wider community.
 
Developed by the Fraser Property Group it is a is a mixed-use development incorporating a range of sustainability measures including a large solar PV system, an embedded thermal and electricity network, wastewater treatment, and over one thousand independently vetted construction materials.
 
A tour of the site to explain the planning and introduction of its unique concepts will be held on Tuesday 14thSeptember and this will be followed by lunch at the Acre Restaurant which will be at individuals expense.
 
 
 
2. The committee is working to arrange a guest speaker from the Port of Melbourne Authority for Tuesday the 7th December. A harbour cruise with lunch will be conducted on Sunday 5th December. Costs have yet to be determined.
