Thanks to the support from our former vocational committee members, especially Noel Halford, we were able to organize a new vocational committee and start our work. We are also glad to have Ian Bentley to join us.

On July 17th , we held our first vocational committee meeting and we agreed that the new committee will focus on the three projects that have been carried out in our club.

1.We will continue to organize vocational visits for our members and friends. The scheduled visit to the Disaster Aid Centre and Australian Garden in June had to be canceled as we could not get enough numbers to sign up.  We are still considering to reorganize this visit in the coming  Spring. Other possible visits to the Tullamarine Airport and Matt Bowtell’s ‘Free 3D Hands’ have also been talked about in the meeting. Thanks to Noel and Jill, who agreed to explore further.

2.As part of the efforts to highlight the vocational theme through our weekly bulletin to stimulate thought and debate, our committee members, especially Noel, have been continuously contributing articles to the bulletin. Our members promised to continue their efforts during the new rotary year. A recent article posted by Noel in July 26th about the balance between work and retirement is quite thought-provoking. Thanks, Noel.

3.The third is about the Enterprise Forum. Before going ahead to organize an event, Noel and I plan to visit local enterprises to get feedbacks about this forum and determine our target audiences and speakers.  We are currently circulating local enterprise information among the committee members and Jill plans to ask a contact of hers, Sue Ellson (Founder of Camberwell Network, and the Newcomers Network ) if she knows of suitable enterprises in the local area that would be interested in speaking/attending. I would appreciate it so much if our club members could offer information of your local professional connections.

Ian Bentley has reached out to Blair Warren-Smith, the projects and partnership coordinator in Swinburne University, Blair introduced Vicky Kyritsis to us, who manages the Rotary relationship in their team. We plan to meet with Vicky to talk about the possible partnership as Swinburne might be an important source of speakers, audiences and volunteers.

As required in  the board meeting of July 12th, we plan to deliver a report about this research in the board meeting of September.

We are currently planning to hold an enterprise theme zoom meeting on Tuesday Sept  27th. Before that, we will have plenty of work to do. I would appreciate all the support from our members and friends. Thank you!
