This week The Shadow notes the District Recognition Awards, and some Covid reminders.

District Recognition Awards

Last Saturday, the District Recognition Awards were held as part of the District 9800 Conference Breakout Session.

It was noted that the applications for each category were outstanding and it was difficult to select winners.

DG Philip Archer commented: "I would like to congratulate all the entrants and recipients of the District 9800 Recognition Awards held on Saturday at the Showcase. Rotary clubs never cease to inspire and amaze with the incredible array of innovative projects they undertake that make such a difference in the world.

"It has been a difficult year under COVID, but our District‘s clubs have shown just how resilient, creative and persistent they can be even under the most challenging of times. Every D9800 Rotarian should feel very proud!"

We congratulate the clubs on their achievements:

Long to reign over us?

The Shadow enjoys reading the Bulletins from other Rotary Clubs, and finds some of them quite inspiring as we head towards a new Rotary Year:

“We have some great events coming up over the next few months as we lead into a new Rotary year and (xxxx) and I work together on handing over the reigns.

“Together, we'll inspire action, strengthen our commitments, work on our challenges, and celebrate our successes.”

Long may they hang on to the reins, as they reign in the rain!

Wu-Flu Update:

As you are aware, COVID vaccinations are currently rolling out in specific phases across the country. As of this month (May 2021), those 50 years and over will be able to receive the Astra Zeneca vaccination. To check your current eligibility please follow this link https://www.health.gov.au/resources/publications/covid-19-vaccine-eligibility-checker

This will enable you to see what phase you may fit into, and if there are any clinics/doctors nearby that you may be able to book yourself into for this free vaccination. Please note that we are not currently able to vaccinate you here in the store, and we haven’t yet heard as to when or if we will be able to offer this service. We highly recommend you get your flu vaccination ASAP, so when you can then have your COVID vaccination, you will be ready. Flu vaccination and COVID vaccination MUST be separated by 2 WEEKS at least.

Please remember to get yourself tested if you have any symptoms that might be COVID related (runny nose, cough, fever, chills, muscle aches or sore throat) and then quarantine until you receive a negative test.
