The Shadow knows you'd love to be involved in the Special Interest Group Discussions, or the upcoming Quiz Night.  Check them out under Forthcoming Events.

Meanwhile, DG Philip Archer keeps us up-to-daate on the forthcoming Multi District Conference, Virtual Victoria:

For the first time, and in the year we celebrate our Centenary of service above self in Australia, we are bringing together all five Rotary Districts in Victoria for a unique and inspiring Multi District Conference, Virtual Victoria.

Held over two days, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd May from 11am to 1pm, the conference will be a celebration of Rotary’s achievements over the last 100 years, as well as a forum for new ideas and opportunities that will foster enthusiasm at club level to continue the amazing impact Rotary has within our communities.

I encourage you all to join with your family, friends and community partners to share in this wonderful online event and book via: https://www.rotaryconference.org.au/

This is also an opportunity for your club to have a special lunch or dinner to coincide with the conference weekend, and celebrate your Rotary year.

I hope you will urge all those in your networks to join in this special event and to hear the wonderful line-up of speakers, as we share all that is Rotary and the reason we are so passionate about being a Rotarian.

Rotary District 9800 Governor Philip Archer

The next monthly meetings of the Club's special interests groups - the Book Group (aka 'The Bookworms') and the Current Affairs Group (aka 'The Fixers') - will be held on Thursday 8 April from 5.45 PM to 7.00 PM.

New members are welcome.  A special call-out to those of you who have been travel-deprived for the last 12 months - why not do a little vicarious travelling by forming a Travel Group?

The Bookworms will be discussing the true crime book and movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which Gordon Cheyne writes about in the 23 February edition of the Bulletin.

The Fixers will discuss two issues:

  • 'What can we learn from comparing the electoral systems of the US and Australia?', with discussion led by Lawrence Reddaway, and
  • 'Should jury trials be abolished?', with discussion led by Andrew Crockett.

This event is free and new members are welcome as we are always looking for fresh perspectives.

When registering, please state in the 'Tag Text' box  which group you'd like to join - Books, Current Affairs or Travel.

Our next Quiz Night will be held via Zoom on Friday 16 April at 5.45 PM.

Team Dolan won the first two Quiz Nights.  Can their winning streak continue?

The winning margin narrowed last time and several challengers are vying to topple the champs.

As before, quiz questions will be drawn from a range of topics including current affairs, geography, film and TV, history and culture, health, language, music, science, literature and Australiana.

Join us on 16 April for an hour of mental stimulation, fellowship and fun.

There is a fee of $15 per family for this event.
