One of the most effective ways to gather data and information about a targeted organization is by infiltrating its ranks.
This is the job of the spy (espionage agent).
Spies can then return information such as the size and strength of the organisation.
They can also find dissidents within the organization and influence them to provide further information or to defect.
In times of crisis, spies steal technology and sabotage the enemy in various ways.

Gee our Sergeant-at-Arms will have a field day when we eventually get back to real Rotary meetings: he must have a huge list of fines by now. This week’s birthdays included Ken McNamara, Sheila Cheyne and Ken Scott (Zut alors! - all on Bastille Day) and Ian Bentley on the 17th.

President Tilak will cop a fine for sure: if he can afford to give US$1000 to the Rotary Foundation, he can surely allow the Sergeant his tithe.

These Zoom meetings aren’t a patch on the flesh-pressing of  real Rotary meeting, but they are certainly better than nothing.  And we can look forward to meeting Vincent Chen and our other visitors when real meetings resume.

They will resume, won’t they?

But we all enjoyed PDG Murray’s visit and chat about the Foundation.

The Shadow knows a Rotarian who claims he spends a lot on charity.

He would say that, wouldn’t he?
