Despite the change of weather with the moving cold front and a 10 degree drop in temperature, it was not enough to stop our members showing up for our weekly meeting, with over 30 people in attendance.
 
Thank you Jill Forsyth of Op shop donating $1000 cheque along with our own David Pisterman helping to run the shop.
 
Thanks for Dr John Carre-Riddell‘s passion on Anzac day where his family members were war heroes.
 
 
 
 
Today I highlighted the following diary entries for our members:
  1. A reminder for our Pre-multi district conference dinner at Kooyong, next Thursday 29th April. Wonderful company with beautiful JAZZ music playing in the background, will be a magnificent setting for a super evening. Please book your ticket this week.
  2. Please do not forget the Coombe lunch on Sunday the 23rd of May, starting at 11 am.
Last Tuesday was our Board meeting with the following updates:
  • Glenferrie has approved a contribution of $2000 matching the grants to support the joint project of Upton House recreational equipment.
  • Fundraising committee have provided a list of future activities including mental health function, Christmas produce and a golf day. Please watch this space for further updates
  • This year marks the highest Rotary foundation contributions by our club since the 2015/16 year. Well done to everyone.
  • Community service, Salvo Hawks football supported again this year and the first home game scheduled for the 12th ofMay 2021.
  • Mock interviews will commence shortly with Geoff Wright seeking volunteer to assist with this important activity.
Update from Saturday’s Breakfast with DG:
  • Peace leadership conference online on the 21st and 22nd April 2021, including Professor Tilman Ruff who will provide valuable insight.
Cluster meeting update from last Friday evening:
  • Multidistrict conference will be held on the 1st and 2nd May at Essendon fields Hyatt where you are welcome to join online.; I will be attending with my family,
  • Application for peace fellows and global scholar now open for 2022/2023 and will close on 14th May 2021, please contact chair David Goulman for further details.
  • Combined meeting with Glenferrie and Hawthorn proposed on the 18th of May 2021 surrounding East Timor ex-serviceman.
We closed the meeting with an informative zoom presentation, live from Canberra from our guest speaker Dr Brad Tucker (an Astrophysicist) who provided an update on future space explorations, including 4G network on the moon and making a Hollywood movie cheaper than on Earth. David also gave some insight into future getaway travels to private space travels and moon bases. 
 
No Tuesday meeting next week, instead we are asking all members to attend the Jazz evening on Thursday 29th April 2021, starting from 6.30pm at Kooyong Tennis Club. Please book your tickets this week.
