Welcome to our first week of the Centenary Year.

Following a very successful change over with many well deserving club members receiving service awards and Paul Harris Awards, I wish to once again, extend my congratulations to the recipients.

Our First Zoom meeting had a great attendance to witness The Alfred Health Care Package presentation by PDG Bronwyn Stephens and Katrina Flinn being a highlight of the meeting. Two video presentations compiled by The Alfred Foundation explained the importance and impact these packages were having on the most disadvantaged mental health patients.  Hawthorn club's participation will continue throughout the year, where admissions demand over 1200 packages per year and the need will only grow with the current Covid conditions.

This year with household income being restricted, we will be looking at Corporate Sponsorship from those industries that have not been disadvantaged with the Covid Restrictions. These will include such industries but not limited to Supermarkets, Pathology, PPE equipment suppliers, Immunisation suppliers, Pharmacies, Takeaway delivery services, and Australia Post. Fundraising from the corporates could take on many faces including bulk donations or a rounding up to the nearest dollar concept for customers over say a month! As long as the message is strong and simple, then the community will respond positively, knowing that every dollar raised will go to those disadvantaged and not eaten up in administration costs.

I encourage all members to join committees or sub-committees of interest to support our ideas and bring them to fruition.

Next week, 14th July 2020 PDG Murray Verso will be our guest speaker. I look forward to seeing all your faces again at 12.45pm for a 1pm start.
