What am I bid?

Wasn’t it nice to see Simon O’Donoghue in Auctioneer mode again, plucking bids from all over the place to dispose of a book about Melbourne and Collingwood Football Clubs?

Nobody was quite sure when they would be called upon to bid, and those with short arms and deep pockets somehow managed to contribute as well.

The lucky top bidder at $40 was David Rosback, who is assured of a good night’s sleep after such fantastic bedtime reading.

Well done everybody: we enjoyed this fun segment.

Camcare Food Project

The contributions keep rolling in: David Pisterman nearly blew a gasket carrying in this week’s big donation, which he says mainly came from Glenferrie Rotary.

Thanks, everybody: great work, which is really appreciated.

Working Bee

It’s a while since we had a Working Bee at DIK. It turns out that we are much better at collecting and sorting goods than we are at finding a home for them.  As a result, some of our Medical goods have gone out of date, and heaps of stuff we lovingly packed a few years ago have to be discarded.

It is time consuming but not intellectually challenging: opening boxes, separating the sharps and the plastics, and chucking them in the appropriate bins.

If we could get a team together on the second Tuesday of the month, when we have no Rotary meeting, we could clear a lot of space, and start all over again.

So Tuesday, 13th September, from 9.30 am it is, for an easy-going Working Bee.

Can you help?  Please ring Gordon Cheyne, 0417 583 803.

Put the date in your diary, and we’ll remind you in a couple of weeks.

Absent Friends

Rotary has changed a lot in the past couple of years. Geoff Wright once kept track of attendees, but attendance requirements are now more relaxed.

Dr John used to ring and check up on those with illnesses. He would report to the club on how members were doing. President Andrew recently had a lovely phone chat with Dr John, who is currently in Epworth Hospital. .

Nowadays we quickly lose contact with members who are unable to attend regularly. How can we stay in touch?

Have a look at the foot of the page where there’s a spot for you to add a comment: if you haven’t been to a meeting in the last few weeks, we’d love to hear from you.
