Are you happy with the election result?
Assuming of course, that you actually voted.  If you didn’t vote, don’t complain.

Members will recall the informative presentation in February by Duane Hamacher, Associate Professor of Cultural Astronomy at the University of Melbourne. His book, “The First Astronomers”  explains the rich knowledge of the stars and the planets held by First Peoples around the world.

However William D. Rubinstein, who held chairs of History at Deakin University and at the University of Wales has a different viewpoint, which we present in this issue as “Aboriginal ‘Science’ and Western Knowledge”.

Just like our election, you can take your pick of which version you like.

Camberwell Rotary Art Show will be held a bit earlier than usual, this year: 25th June to 3rd July, at Swinburne University as usual.

Details are available at  https://camberwellartshow.org.au/visitor-information/

We have had a lovely note from former member Hans Carlborg:

"Noel, I very much enjoy your thoughtful and clever vocational articles. This, as you know is also my focus and hope I have communicated how well Vincent's engagement was received at Swinburne Employment Forum. We had 157 students participating and we, Rotary, had three formal sessions and also put ona sausage sizzle at the end of the day, enabling students, the 20 teachers and we, the mentors, to interact in relaxed circumstances.  I look forward to his on-going engagement as it's now gaining pace when the uni is opening up again."

We include parts of Hans’ report which appeared in the Canterbury Rotary Club Bulletin. You may spot Vincent Chen (fourth from the left) in one of the photos.

And Hans obviously likes Noel Halford's Vocational Service articles: we hear Noel is recovering from recent surgery, and we look forward to his return to full good health.

But back to the General Election, where in Kooyong we swopped the treasurer for a lady doctor, and in nearby Higgins swopped one lady doctor for another.  Apparently "doctor's wives" are no longer the problem.

I'm told "the electors always get it right". Fair enough.

But all those promises to do “something” about climate change and integrity!

I must admit it’s a bit cooler this morning, but I don’t feel more integrated yet.  What could be wrong?

(Thanks, Johannes Leak)

But what to do about climate change?

We all know of a great site on the corner of Burwood and Glenferrie Roads that would be perfect for a windmill, wouldn’t it?
