Is we is or is we ain’t in lockdown?

To the tune of “Is you is or is you ain’t my baby?”  . . . . .

 - but it makes the next line “Girls like you are really hard to find!” pretty difficult to fit in. 

Masks indoors and outdoors will remain and there will be no crowds at large sporting and artistic events.  President Andrew has outlined the changes to our upcoming events.

Our main fundraising event this year will be the International Men’s Day Lunch on Friday 19 November at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club. The guest speaker will be Gareth Andrews.

The opening of the Rotary 100 Playground has been postponed.

And District Secretary Jane Pennington has sent us a notice of the Rotary International Convention, which will be held in Melbourne in 2023.  A certain PDG, who is the Vice-Chairman, seems to keep popping up everywhere. Sergeant-at-Arms, fine that man!

 This week, Rotary in Review has an article about Rotary’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: A link takes the reader to  “Board of Directors strengthens Rotary’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement”   HERE

The statement starts: “We value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds”, which sums it all up nicely.

But they then rabbit on about “age, ethnicity, race, color, disability, learning style, religion, faith, socioeconomic status, culture, marital status, languages spoken, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity as well as differences in ideas, thoughts, values, and beliefs.”

Have a look around the room, at your next Rotary Meeting. Rotarians are successful business men and women. We are not children, robots requiring programming, nor idiots. 

However there is something a bit more sinister at the foot of the page:

the Board agreed to:

• Provide DEI training for incoming, current, and past RI officers
• Promote the Rotary Code of Conduct
• Establish protocols to report Code of Conduct violations

Have we now got Thought Police in Rotary?
