Our meeting last week was a colourful affair with several guests from the Cavalcade team joining us and other local and overseas visitors.

PE Peter Kirkwood spoke of the recent online District Changeover event and confirmed that he had collected the Club's two Awards shown here - Ken Broadhead proudly displaying the Vocational honour board and Janelle holding the equivalent Youth Award (in Bob's absence)

Janelle also advised she had the pleasure of presenting to Ken Broadhead during the week an additional sapphire pin to   his Paul Harris Fellow award arising from his giving to the Rotary Foundation.

Sergeant Anne updated the meeting on the health of several of our members, and Phill confirmed earlier updates that Ron was in good spirits and may be transferred to a rehabilitation facility by the weekend.

Herewith is the limerick I gave Ron :

There is a young bloke named Ron
We think he should be given a gong
He always speaks rubbish
And now he’s giving anguish
So get well soon and join the throng.

He did laugh. He needed to laugh.

Fundraising Chair PP Doug Reid announced the extension of the current online Auction until the 10th August, and the addition of new items for sale.

Our Guest speaker for the morning was Sue Sweeney from the historical Cavalcade group who was joined by her colleagues Helen Parsons (President) Mary Green (Founder) and several of their Volunteers.

Sue's presentation attached - here - for your enjoyment was both colourful and instructive. The Cavalcade group have over 16,000 costumes and accessories stored and catalogued which have historical and cultural significance - an absolute treasure for our society- some examples below.
Cavalcade interact with Community organisations and lend their costumes for fundraising events. Their team of volunteers are always on the look out for interesting items that have a story attached to ensure our country's history is accurately recorded.

They can be contacted on E:info@thecavalcade.org or P: 02 9417 0061, if you are aware of any such historical items of clothing and/or items of interest.
