Richard "Ric" Meyer, Jr.
Rotary Mongolian Project - Introduction by Dave Anderson

Ric Meyer has been part of Rotary’s Family since 1973, when he was a Rotary Exchange Student to Sweden. Also an alumnus of The Rotary Foundation’s Scholarship Program, he joined the Stamford, Conn. Rotary Club in 2001. A Past President, Ric is active in Youth Exchange, Foundation Scholarship, and Alumni Programs in both his District and Zone.

Ric met Dave and Mamie Anderson at last year’s Rotary International Convention in Seoul, Korea, where he was promoting a Global Grant, which is what he’ll speak about this week. Ric is President and C.E.O. of Firebird Health International, a non-governmental organization (NGO) working with extremely poor people in Mongolia in collaboration with Rotary Mongolia and Rotarians throughout the world. This Education Grant, sponsored by the Stamford Club, will benefit a preschool and community of roughly 4,500 displaced herders who were previously part of ancient nomadic communities, now trying to survive on less than 80¢ a day. Two-thirds of Mongolians, some two million people, live in poverty. Ric will introduce us to Mongolia's people, history, and current issues, much of which is unknown outside of Asia.
