Presidents Report 21st August 2018
 
In relation to the drought situation an e mail message was distributed at the close of last week detailing some of the logistics in how drought relief funds will be distributed.
 
Members were reminded to place their name on the roster for Gears & Beers festival especially for road marshals positions. All members are expected to participate as it is one of our major fund raising events and it generates a large benefit to the general community in many ways. Phil & David will be visiting Coolamon Rotary club on 27th August to engage their club members in marshaling the cycling challenge component of the festival in their district.
 
WWCC news released last Saturday that Wagga Wagga will be home to the biggest multisport cycling complex in NSW with $9.2M facility to be built at Pomingalarna Reserve by 2020.
 
Treasurer advised that 9 members are still to pay their annual subscription.
 
There was a query from a member about the Tathra Bush fire appeal. The advice from DG John is that the appeal is closed as no request received from Bega Rotary club.
 
Wagga Women’s Health Centre sent an invitation to the club asking for a club representative to attend a function at 12 noon at time of our meeting, to be part of the group to witness an significant announcement to be made by NSW Minister of Family & Community Services & Social Housing on domestic violence. John Ferguson is representing our club.
 
From the monthly board meeting:
Paul, Peter and Rob are reviewing the induction booklet for new members.
 
Board approved the advertising fund (approx $2,000) component for AED’s be used to assist in the purchase of the physical units.
 
Board agreed that the number of occasions for equipment hire be restricted with maximum number of occasions to be 4 in the 2018/19 period similar to last year.
 
In relation to the NYSF (National Youth Science Forum) to be held in January 2019 there is one candidate for the club to sponsor in lieu of two. The board approved the budget allocation as $2,000 as part of total cost of $3,150.
 
The Board agreed to the sale of Rotary Christmas cakes to members.
 
Peter Green is following up with a few members about working with children’s check approved ID number and expiry date.
 
Program dates approved by the board are Vocational visit to Men’s shed on the 23rd October, meetings on the 18th & 25th September will be devoted to Gears & Beers updates and presentations, Club Christmas party on Sunday 9th December at Michael Knight’s residence. Thanks to Michael for offering his residence as venue for our Christmas party. Thanks to Carolyn and Paul Murray for making their residence available for the past 2 club Christmas parties.
 
A number of projects were approved by the board and one project needed club ratification.
 
I will be out of the city next week. Geoff Breust has graciously accepted my request to chair of next week’s meeting.
