JAYCO Factory Tour

Our Probus group enjoyed a hugely informative tour of the sprawling Jayco manufacturing plant at Dandenong today! We had been informed of the importance of suitable footwear & after walking several kilometres through the facility, I can say amen to that! We started the tour in the staff gym, which included a quasi-hypobaric room, to allow training at the equivalent of high altitude conditions, before moving on to the seamstresses who assemble the upholstery fabrics & external weatherproofing panels. We then moved on to see the remarkable process whereby foam cushions are vacuum-compressed, to help operators insert them into the prepared fabric covers. We watched aspects of the entire assembly process for the best-selling Outback range, specifically designed for offroad adventures, then the new compact J-Pod model (for those who require instant access to a double bed whenever they’re on the road), before moving on to the luxurious Silverline range & finally, the new motorhome models. Some members were particularly impressed by the inclusion of luxurious bathrooms & even washing machines, not to mention the slide-out room extensions! Prices ranged from about $10,000 to $200,000 & I’m sure a few of our members have already got one on their wishlist! What a fantastic morning & thanks to Di & all the team for arranging it!
