Jayme Dunn was introduced this week by Darren Bernaerdt, Chairman of the Professional Photography Department of Langara College.  He introduced her as this year’s exceptional graduate who had just won the Herb Abbington Scholarship with which our club is involved.

Jayme will be the third generation of photographers in her family, her grandmother having been the pioneer followed by her mother. Jayme received her first scholarship when graduating from high school. She then proceeded on a tour of Europe and on returning moved to Penticton to work in her Grandparents' shop. Her enrolment in Langara’s Professional Photography programme followed. She swiftly succeeded in winning  ‘Best in Class Photo Image’ in the first term of the first year’s programme. Jayme was full of praise for the experience provided at Langara and of the people she met.

 

Her next move is developing her own business under the title of ‘Magic Box Photo’ which will involve building her portfolio. 

 

Questions included  whether she re-touched her photos and how long the process might take to which she replied possibly as long as 20 hour, but never to the point of seeming fake.   She also went back to historical basics to learn as much as possible while still available including the Tin Type process.

The  photographs shown in this bulletin illustrate her talent and with her enthusiastic and  capable persona we expect her to do well.
