His topic:  "Involvement of Salvation Army in Disaster Situation."

Victor Leonardi is passionate about helping people!  Originally from a dairy farm in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, Victor moved to Hawaii officially in 2009.  His move was inspired by working with The Salvation Army in Canada and Hawaii previous to the move.  He has worked in many types of work in the past, including ski instructing in Switzerland; paper mills, hotels, banquets, churches, and gas stations in Canada.  In Hawaii, he has worked with The Salvation Army at our kids camp on the North Shore, Divisional Headquarters with special events, volunteer management, and networking/relationship building with large businesses.

In May of 2018, Kilauea erupted.  Initially, Victor volunteered to help with relief work. Over 700 homes were taken to Madam Pele and approx 500 people in the evacuation shelters...this is when Victor led The Salvation Army's work to feed and distribute food and basic need items. He has come back on staff and continues to work in Emergency Disasters locally and in Saipan from their Typhoon back in October 2018.  Since 2018 Victor has been deployed to multiple disaster responses.  He is also the current Chair of Hawaii State VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active In Disasters), a network of members who work together in times of disaster response.
