Another International Project has just finished! Our club supported the Rotary Club of Kapolei Sunset as they spearheaded the Books 4 Kids project. Taking advantage of the Department of Education's plan to switch to Common Core, thousands of textbooks/books were being discarded. RCKS member Jim Handsel wanted to fill a void in the Philippines where Typhoon Haiyan had just destroyed several schools. Over the past year and a half Rotarians and friends have been collecting books and packing them and shipping them to the Phlippines.

Our members view our efforts as way for them to regain a sense of community. Our efforts link them to the wider community and expose them to people and situations outside their every day experiences. Through our efforts, members develop new skills, assume responsibilities and become aware of the needs of others. They also learn how to give and serve unselfishly.Image
