Learn about the Neighborhood Board System & Come Dressed in Your Best Costume
The Neighborhood Commission Office is a City and County of Honolulu Office tasked with operating the Neighborhood Board System. Formed in 1973, the Board System divides the Island of Oahu into 36 different neighborhoods each with a unique Board comprised of residents from within the neighborhood. These Boards meet monthly to increase community participation in local government and provide their residents with the opportunity to discuss the issues which impact them the most. These Boards are non-partisan and advisory in nature, however they are responsible with representing the people of their Neighborhood and helping elected officials, government agencies, and other entities know what the people’s desires and concerns are.
