During this session, SMSC Secretary/Treasurer Crooks-Stratton will explore the importance of sovereignty and walk attendees through 200 years of federal Indian policy and how it has impacted tribal nations. She will also cover economic development in Native American communities and provide present-day examples of how tribes like the SMSC work alongside federal, state and local governments on shared priorities.
