Jerry has been a member of the Rotary Club of Reno since 1977, served as president in 1987-88 and District 5190 Governor in 1993-94.   Jerry served as Rotary International Director (2005-07) and Vice President (2006-07).

Jerry and his wife Tasha participated in a Polio National Immunization Day in Ghana, West Africa, an orphanage project in Romania, a rural hospital project in Uganda, a house-build project in Mexico and led a Vocational Training Team to Uganda in May, 2014, to assist in the startup of the new Uganda Nursing School, Bwindi. 

Jerry and his wife Tasha have hosted 13 exchange students including a second generation student, the son of a student hosted 22 years earlier.  He and his wife Tasha are Rotary Foundation Level 2 major donors and members of the Bequest Society.  Jerry is the recipient of the Rotary International Foundation Distinguished Service Award, the Citation for Meritorious Service and the Rotary International Service Above Self Award. 

 A registered professional engineer (retired) Jerry served as Executive Director of the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County for 18 years and was responsible for RTC funded highway design and construction (major projects included East Glendale from Kietzke to McCarran, and the southeast and southwest quadrants of McCarran Blvd.) and creation of the Citifare (now RIDE) and Citilift (now Access) public transit systems.  After his retirement as Executive Director, the RTC renamed the 7 acre RTC administrative and operations complex the Jerry L. Hall Regional Transportation Center. 

Jerry was the first consultant hired by the City of Reno to work on the Reno Railroad relocation project in downtown Reno, served as Deputy Project Director for the Environmental Assessment on the project and worked on the design build team during the startup of the project.  Jerry also served as a consultant to the Reno Municipal Courts during final design and construction of the Mills Lane Justice Center, has developed strategic plans for private and public clients and served as interim general manager of Sun Tran, the Tucson, Arizona, public transit system.

Jerry has been active in his community serving in leadership roles and is currently past chair and member of the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority, has served on the Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority and the Washoe County District Board of Health.  He is a recipient of the University of Nevada President’s Medal for service to the community and higher education.
