Understanding ISIS/ISIL

Ted Morse was born, raised and educated in Sacramento, California-one of eight children.  After doing his military duty, he did his graduate studies in international affairs at George Washington University on a Scottish Rite Fellowship.

He spent 37 years working in economic, political and humanitarian development with the US State Department’s Agency for International Development (USAID)-the foreign aid agency of our government.  He then spent 13 years as an international consultant for the U.S. and British governments, the United Nations, the World Bank and several Universities in Nepal, Sudan and Somalia focusing on disarmament of insurgents.

He lived and worked for 5 years in Central America and the Caribbean and 10 years in Asia, including Thailand, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. He lived and worked 20 years in Africa and worked in the Balkans and the Middle East, including two tours in Iraq as the ORHA/CPA Administrator of Baghdad. He and his wife Mary Lewellen now team-teach at Sierra Nevada College at Incline Village, Tahoe.  

Mr. Morse holds Distinguished and Meritorious American Presidential Service Awards, the only person to hold two such awards out of 2.2 million eligible employees. He has multiple  USAID and Secretary of State awards, including one for Valor, (after escaping from being held hostage). He also has multiple service awards from the USG and several foreign governments  for his life long work in developing countries.
