Sustainable living by Rita Zeng.
Last week, Rita Zeng presented a wonderful presentation on sustainable living.

Rita is part of an organization called Grandma's Cupboard. They promote sustainability practices based on the tried and tested methods from traditional philosophies. They want to encourage others to adapt these practice here, now.

Why "Grandma's cupboard"? This is a literal and symbolic meaning. Your Grandma's cupboard has wisdom, tried and tested traditional practices, and is often minimilistic or  sustainable with little waste.

The organization has three values:

1. Promotion of the environmental movement through partnerships with other racialized and cultural communities.
2. Intergenerational dialogue in order to uncover traditional philosophies practices.
3. Restore the respect and pride to advance multicultural multiracial aspects in climate solutions.

Grandma's cupboard seeks to accomplish a few goals:

1. Increase awareness of the need to control consumerism.
2. Renew interest in understanding one's own racial cultural origin, identity.

Environmental sustainability is a critical part of Rotary's mission. So it's important to be mindful of this type work and focus on how we can promote sustainability in our communities.
