We celebrated St. Valentine's Day early.

Valentines Day is Feb 14th, and to mark this occasion, Angie our Club Service Director spent a lot of energy to organize a special Zoom agenda for all of us.

Legend has it, Valentine's, the day may have taken its name from a priest who was martyred about 270 CE by the emperor Claudius II Gothicus. According to legend, the priest signed a letter “from your Valentine” to his jailer’s daughter, whom he had befriended and, by some accounts, healed from blindness. Other accounts hold that it was St. Valentine of Terni, a bishop, for whom the holiday was named, though it is possible the two saints were actually one person. Another common legend states that St. Valentine defied the emperor’s orders and secretly married couples to spare the husbands from war. It is for this reason that his feast day is associated with love.

Many thanks to Angie for a creative programme.  We enjoyed a memory game, trying to recall tray of random items displayed only momentarily. Congratulation to Jacqueline, she fared best on that game and she also won the random draw. The highlight for the day, would have been the stories some of us shared.....about our loved ones, children, parents and spouses.  There is a stronger bond between people when we get to know each other better.  When references are made to Rotary family, we are reminded that our purpose is the same and our heart for service is the same.  Through Rotary, we can join hands and do bigger and better deeds.  Isn't that what you want?  Don't you want to "Serve to Change Lives"?

Dave, as usual was in fine form, extracting happy dollars from our jeans.

Next on the calendar, Lunar New Year Feb 17th at 7pm, a Shred-it Day on Mar 6th and a St. Patricks Day theme Zoom on Mar 17th.  We are missing quite a few members these last few weeks.  Please join the fun and fundraising and say hello.  We have some work to do and we need everyone.
