Hybrid Meeting - "Canada's Chinese Gene - A sense of Belonging, Ownership and Contribution" by Co-author Kenny Zhang
This book was first published in simplified Chinese in 2017 for celebrating Canada's 150 anniversary as one of "Canada 150 Publishing Program". It is from the perspectives of Chinese Canadians and Chinese communities in Canada.
As a book on Chinese Canadians and Chinese communities, the book inevitably touches upon Chinese phenomena and elements such as: the Chinese language, Chinese New Year, Chinatown, old and new generations of Chinese immigrants, etc. However, these Chinese phenomena and elements that refer to China today cannot be equated at all to the “China” of 150 years ago.
The purpose of this book is not only to describe Chinese phenomena and elements in Canada, but also to discuss and reflect with the readers what these phenomena and elements have meant to Canada as a country.
Kenny Zhang is Research Director at CCS100, a community based research organization, and President of A2Z Capital. He has worked on public policy issues for more than 30 years in both China and Canada. He also has over 6 years’ experience in business development and in the private sector.
