Tovertafel TableRotary has recently provided $1560 of funding for the Tovertafel Table at Simon Fraser Lodge. The Tovertafel (“magic table”), promotes more joyful, social connections for seniors living with dementia through its wide range of interactive games. Developed with seniors and care professionals, the games are designed to suit different stages of dementia and times of the day. Such as family visits and sundowning. The Tovertafel is proven to be effective at physical, cognitive, social and sensory levels. By stimulating physical, social, and cognitive activity, the Tovertafel promotes moments of happiness in caregiving for seniors with dementia and improves their well-being. Stimulating physical activity in elderly people with dementia is especially important as they often don’t get enough exercise in nursing homes. The Tovertafel is a great tool for making physical activity fun! (Nov 28, 2023)

Aerial ViewDrone footage taken of the Rotary & David Douglas Botanical Gardens last week. We are done for the season with only minor things left to do. Now that the limestone has been laid, this provides a better image of the enormity of the projects. Note that this is only the start of the DDBG and will expand much, much further than pictured. Done for the season!Seven of us from three Clubs put the finishing touches on the Rotary Gardens today. We moved more dirt for the perimeter flower beds, pounded in some more rebar and put up the temporary gazebo that was donated to us. A larger permanent wooden structure will be built in the spring when the planting begins. We are looking to raise $5000 to cover material costs so if you would wish to donate please reach out to our Club at info@pgroraty.ca. Below us, you can see Phase 2a of the botanical gardens with the groundwork complete and the shale pathways in. This will be a multi year project that will eventually stretch to university way. All of this will become a legacy project for the community and visitors alike to enjoy for decades to come. ROTARY 💪⚙️ (Photos taken Sept 23, 2023)

Outbound Exchange Student Taryn Forrest's 1st ReportName: Taryn Forrest Email address: tgfor03@gmail.com Host Club Counsellor: Roger Caron Host Club: Valognes Rotary Club Sponsor Club: Prince George Downtown Host Info: Host Family Name: Jérôme Piard and Marisoll Piard Host Phone Number: 33 06 82 33 93 96 and 33 06 68 51 14 68 Host Address: 25 Bis Rue du Grand Saint Lin Do you have a same gender Counsellor: No Health: For the most part I haven’t been sick, I did have a little cold for a week and a half, but it was just a little sinus cold. I did get some sort of stomach bug which I assume came from the food at the cafeteria. I was sick for the whole weekend and didn’t do much. When I was sick I got pretty homesick because whenever I’m sick my mom is always asking how I’m doing and even if I don’t ask she brings me water and crackers. School Activities: I haven’t joined any school activities because there’s pretty much nothing to do. I haven’t heard of anything other than Wednesday sports after school, but I don’t really know what that is. I have joined some non-school activities. Attendance at Rotary Functions: I’ve only been to one Rotary meeting so far, but the meetings are very late, and I am at school from 8:30am to 6:00pm on Thursdays, so going to the meeting every other week could be tiring. I had my orientation the weekend of the 6/7/8 and I met all the exchange students and it was an awesome time. We played some get to know you games and we did a lot of dancing and we talked to each other the best we could. Activities Outside of Rotary: Like I mentioned before I joined a few after school activities, I joined a volleyball training thing that I was invited to by a classmate. I also joined a basketball team (I don’t know if it’s a team or just a training group). They’re both fun and I enjoy doing something after school. How often do you interact with your Host Counsellor? How is your relationship with your Host Counsellor? Is there anything you would like to tell us??? I’ve only interacted with my counselor twice, but he seems very kind. I haven’t really talked with him because I don’t see him often, which means I don’t have anything to complain about, I guess. Comments/Requests/Concerns: Just wanted to mention that I really like my host family and they really make an effort to take me to cool spots around our town and near Cherbourg or Barneville Carteret. I’ve met extended family members from both sides of my host family and they’ve been super awesome and loving. |

Levi Greene's April report from SwitzerlandHealth Report: I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter full of lots of Chocolate! I had a wonderful April and I am now very excited to May! School Report: The reason I am a couple of days late in actually because of School. At the end of April the Kollegium (School) takes a week to allow teachers to take their students out into the real world and learn about the main subject. For the 3rd class we were required to stay within Switzerland, however; my host sister Samira Luggen spent a week in Prague and I am jealous! My main subject in school is Art and Switzerland has an excellent city of arts and culture. I was in Lucerne for the last week. I didn't do overly much as we did have to learn for school. I was able to visit the Capelle Bridge and Rosengart museum which was pretty impressive! Though I thought of the week to get closer to my classmates and that I did. Overall the trip was successful and I am very happy to have participated! Rotary Attendance Report: On the 9th to the 14th of April I was in Venice and Rome, Italy. In Venice I was able to see more than I have ever imagined! The weather was gorgeous and the scenery was unimaginable. While in Rome I was able to visit everything from the Patheon, Other Activities Report: Outside of those trips and school I simply have not had the time! From today until Friday we have a Spring Break of approx. one week so I am sure I will find something to do. For example today Hiking in Blatten with my host family or the possibly trip to Italy tomorrow. I am going to be very tired when I get home! |

Our International Water Project in TaiwanLast Month PDG Penny Offer, Magdalen Leung and PDG Chris Offer visited a school in the mountains of Taiwan to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for a water filtration plant being installed with a Rotary Foundation Global Grand with support from the RC of Richmond Sunset and RC of Prince George. Later Penny signed a friendship agreement at the D3500 conference between D3500 and 5040. |
Josh Doherty's Monthly Report
The past month or so has been pretty fun, we had an entire month off for break and Chinese New Year. It was good to have time to rest and also do some traveling around with family and friends. For a rotary trip, all of the exchange students went for a three day trip to the east coast which was lots of fun. I also went to a lake at the near center of Taiwan with my host family for three days called Sun Moon lake, it was very beautiful. Also, we went to Hsinchu for Chinese New Years where we were around other family members for another three days, I won and received a lot of money.

Joshua's Update from TaiwanHello! As far as health wise goes; I got over my cold that I had and am feeling great now. I did hit my head quite hard last week and my host mother was very worried... well she still is but I am fine. Christmas here in Taiwan just wasn't the same, a mutual thought from most other exchange students. It's not because we aren't with our families and it's not because there is no snow and it's not cold. It just doesn't feel like Christmas, it was just another day. Families don't celebrate Christmas the right way, i know it's not their culture, tradition or religion. To them, it is just about getting candy. The country as a whole, celebrates Christmas with decorations and such, but the people have no idea what it really is. The language is coming along well. I can read, write, and hear it but my speaking isn't that great. Some of the vocabulary is kind of difficult to remember but most of it is very easy to remember. It's funny now that I can understand enough of the language to notice when people are talking about us in public and to know what they are saying about us. It's not nice all the time, but hey, at least we know what they are saying and then we tell them that understood everything they just said. The look on their faces is priceless! We, on the other hand, noticed quite early that we should be careful when we speak since a lot more Taiwanese can speak English, German, or French than we thought. Bye for now!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! P.s. I had written some of this about 2 - 3 weeks ago and instead of hitting the "send" button, I hit the "save draft" button. I thought it was taking a while to get a reply so I checked and noticed it. SORRY!! |
Josh's monthly reportHealth Report: I have been sort of sick for the past two weeks. Almost everyone in our district has been sick. I think the reason is because when we go out for lunch or dinner, we take turns buying the drink since it is usually refillable. Therefore, only one person can buy a drink and everyone can share it. And now, everyone is sick. School Report: At school, the only times I partake in the activities are on Mondays during P.E., every other Tuesday I have baking class, Wednesdays are spent in Chinese cooking for the first half of the day and Western cooking for the second half. Thursdays and Fridays are usually used for homework from Chinese classes. School is fun but very tiring, for most of the other exchange students as well, most of us live 40 mins to an hour away from our schools so we are usually all up around 6. It's good for us later on, I guess, that we are able to get use to waking up early but most students are so tired that they sleep during school. I have to admit, that I do this as well but only because I have no idea what is happening in class. When I ask the teacher or my classmates about what is happening, they tell me that it doesn't matter. Rotary Attendance Report: I have gone to 6 rotary meetings and have another this friday that i have to do a speech in Chinese at. This past Saturday (20/10/2012) we had a culture class bike ride which was lots of fun, it was only 32 km though. I have missed some rotary functions because I have been doing other activities with my host families. Other Activities Report: Almost every weekend, exchange students for my district as well as districts nearby get together to do different things. My group and I usually try to find active things to do such as cliff diving in Wulai (which is a lot safer than it sounds) as well as paint balling every now and then. Most of my district tries to keep as active as possible so they are a fun group to be with. I myself usually go to the gym or ride a bike around my area of Taipei, or a couple of the other guys will go to a skate park we found and try to skateboard or rollerskate. We are learning to do some tricks from some as the locals, we use these opportunities to try out our Chinese as well as to meet new people. Comments-Requests: No comments or requests. Other than another thank you for sponsoring me to come on this exchange, two months in and it already feels like it’s going too fast. |

My PETS Experience
Being in a room with more than 600 motivated Rotarians dedicated to doing good things in the worldis nothing short of awe-inspiring. The Pacific Northwest PETS is the biggest PETS in the world, and by all accounts, one of the most successful! PE's were there from California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, BC, Yukon, Alaska and Russia!
The speakers were amazing, and had us all in stitches laughing (mostly at ourselves), or crying in shared pain. I was given all kinds of cool tools to help plan our year, which I'm already sharing with George for the year after - I'm excited, pumped, motivated, and believe it or not, even kind of organized!
It was great getting to know the PE's from other clubs in our district, as well as exchange ideas from all over the country. You don't grasp the power of Rotary and Rotarians until you sit in session after session with inspirational people - people like you and me who want to make a difference in the world.
We're going to have a great year - and I'm ready!

Telus Employees Come Through for Burns Lake!
After learning of the tragedy at the Babine Forest Sawmill, the TELUS team members in Prince George were determined to assist those affected by this horrific event. On February 16th, a hot dog fundraiser was launched in the Prince George contact centre resulting in a total of $770.20 being donated to the community in Burns Lake. This tragedy hit close to home for a number of the TELUS team members who have friends and family members impacted by the fire and the team members were happy to assist in any way possible.

RYLA North a Smash Hit!RYLA North was held at Ness Lake Bible Camp Sept 16-18, for participants aged 19-25. In all, 22 participants came from all over District 5040 - West Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Kitimat, Terrace, Mackenzie, Quesnel and Prince George. District Governor Hans Doge was able to join the group for Sunday morning, and encouraged the group to be creative, and reach out to their peers on behalf of the great cause of Rotary. The group was focussed on creativity and social media, how to get young people involved in RYLA, Rotex and Rotaract using electonic media and communication, with the long-term goal of building an "app" for that. The end product of RYLA North is the founding of a Rotaract Club at UNBC, and a RYLARocks! website, which should be live in the next few weeks. It's very exciting to watch the enthusiasm and creativity of individuals meld in a group dynamic, and to see the concrete results and desire to move forward. The RYLA program is well worth the investment of every club, the District and Rotary worldwide! Special thanks go to the Rotarians who came out and spoke or led sessions: George Stedeford (Downtown), Dianne Nakamura (Yellowhead), Neil Godbout (Nechako) and Peter Thompson (Downtown). |

The Rotary Club of Prince George was prominent among the donors who supported the construction of the Zamboni garage and Bob Hlina shared ribbon cutting honours with Alison Hoskins from Integris Credit Union.

Mini AuctionThe George Weinand Rotary Club of Prince George Mini-Auction is almost in the record books and again this year preliminary results look very good. The term Mini auction is a misnomer in that although it culminates in a 4 or 5 hour evening, it raises thousands of dollars for the general account of the club and this year $2,500 for the Rotary Foundation through the auction of Ricky's grader won this year by Ricky Harrison. |
60th Annual AuctionThis years auction is almost in the record books. We had donated items of $100,000 and garnered bids of $41,000. Although all expenses haven't come in I'll go out on a limb and estimate about $25,000 net. Thank you to all the people who sat on the committee and worked so hard on this major fundraiser beginning with Christian Schenk: |
Youth Leadership Conference - a great success
388 youth from all across BC descended on Prince George in October for the Provincial Youth Leadership Conference, which was partially funded by the three Prince George Rotary Clubs. This Tri-Club effort led by Denise Berg-Shank, Scotty Raitt, Ron Davis and Adele Sjoberg, who were there for three days of sharing with youth about Rotary itself, RYLA, Youth Exchange, Interact, and Purple Pinkie for Polio.

Display at Pine Centre Mall
Pine Centre Mall is supporting Rotary by offering all 3 Rotary Clubs in Prince George the centre court display area from November 15 - 20. Our club is there promoting the Online Auction, of course, and the other clubs are promoting Disaster Aid Canada, Operation Rednose, and the Purple Pinky for Polio campaign. Thanks Pine Centre (and Shelley Readman, of course!)

Foundation Dinner & Party
By all accounts a great time was had at the Tri-Club Foundation dinner. In total 132 members and guests enjoyed a dinner that had such a vast array of food that it was impossible to try every dish (rumour has it that Kevin Beatty gave it a good try though). It was also impossible to use all the dishes that were brought so the women's shelter was very pleased to receive a large donation.
After dinner a representative from each of the three clubs made presentations to members from their clubs in the theme of the Foundation. I chose to recognize |
Zamboni Shelter
As a club we recently made a decision to support the Out Door Ice Oval Society with a large donation to build a shelter where they can park the Zamboni and keep it warm. In a little over two weeks a group of them have already gotten it to the lock up stage.
It is a 14x22 foot building along side the back of Kin 3 Ice Rink up at the CN Centre complex. The City committed the site and did the ground preparation for the cement pad, as well as providing the heat to keep the zamboni from freezing. This is a timely project in advance of the 2015 winter games that are coming to Prince George and may be something we can build on for a larger project. |
AGM Election ResultsOn November 30th we had our AGM for the 2010/11 year. The following people were nominated and accepted and/or put their name forward for a position: |

What the Rotary Club of Prince George is doing! As you can see by the list below (I may have missed a few items) we are a vibrant club with an extremely healthy focus on youth. We have a comprehensive list of projects that we have done (below). I encourage you to check them out as it certainly helps build pride and self assurance to us members that we truly belong to the premier service club in the city and it shows the community that our efforts result in a better place and world to live. |
Be a deer – volunteer Operation Red NoseOperation Red Nose is back for its 13th year in Prince George, organized by the Rotary Club of Prince George - Nechako. They can use lots of volunteers so please contact Kelly Zammit at kellypzammit@telus.net. Join us to see to see how you can help our 2010 campaign. Last year was a huge success where we gave a total of 796 rides over nine nights during the holiday season. This year we'd like to reach 1,000 rides, but in order to do that, we need your help. |
Coaching - Presentation to the ClubBryan Lockhart and Bill Quinn spoke to the club about the value of having a coach to take you to higher levels in business.

District Governor Penny Offer's Visit
District Governor Penny Offer and husband Chris came to Prince George for their inaugural visit to the clubs from 100 mile to Mackenzie. While in Prince George, she attended a special board meeting with our club. Of the 14 directors of the club we managed to have 12 attend this meeting and we gave her an overview of the workings and direction of our club. I was very happy to hear and report that we have some great work going on in the Membership group, Media Group, Auction Group, Boat Raffle group, Youth programs group and Local and International projects groups. Penny was so impressed that she mentioned to our Assistant Governor Gary Gurnsey to nominate our club for the club of the year honours.

President Bob Hlina's Inauguration Speech
First, I'd like to thank Bob Campbell for his hard work as our Club President. Let's give him (another) round of applause.
It's an honor to be selected as the 68th President of this Club, and to be chosen to carry on this club's tradition of Service above Self. |
DERAE's 9th REPORT
Dear Rotary,
As usual another month came and went. Like most months may was another very busy one. My month started with a visit to Walibi adventure. This was a day put on by the rotary for all the districts in Belgium. Walibi was like a Belgian Disneyland (about a quarter the size of Disneyland). But all the rides and the park itself was really fun especially being there with all the exchange students. And like typical Belgium it was raining the whole day we were there but we didn't mind cause that meant no lines for us and the entire park just for us. |
DERAE's 8th REPORT
Dear Rotary,
I hope everyone is doing well in Prince George. Here, I still can't believe it has already been 8 months. Where has the time gone! But once again I had a very awesome month. I started my month by going to Amsterdam with my host family and two other exchange students. We went to a few museums then did lots of shopping. The day right after was Easter. For Easter we had my host aunty, uncle and cousins come over for lunch. It was weird having a big lunch for a day like Easter when usually in Canada we have big dinners. But like Easter in Canada it was full of Chocolate! |
DERAE's 7th REPORT
Dear Rotary,
I am now at my 7 month mark. Wow, time goes by fast. I feel like as the time goes by I get busier and busier. March was a very good month. I was lucky and was able to have two friends from Canada come and visit me for a week. It was really cool being able to show people from back home my new life. I brought them to all the major towns and all the places I like to hang out at. It was a really fun week and kind of sad to say goodbye but felt good to go back to my usual daily routine. |
DERAE's 6th REPORT
Dear Rotary,
I can't believe I am already at my 6 month mark. February went by so fast. It has been a very busy one to. At the beginning of the month we had a rotary event at the European parliament. All the exchange students from all the districts were there including the "Newie's" (students who arrived in January). We got a tour of the parliament building then a presentation on how the parliament runs in the actual parliament room. It was cool that the parliament for all of Europe was in Belgium, one of the smallest countries in Europe. It was really interesting to hear the history of the parliament and how all of Europe works together. The day right after that I had a meeting with my district to discuss any problems or the good things about our exchange so far. |
Adventure in Tourism
The Rotary Club of Kelowna - Ogopogo would like to sincerely thank your club for sending one or more students to our third Adventure in Tourism program which ran from March 21 to March 26, 2010. Judging from the student's comments the program was a resounding success!
|
The Club to be HonouredFrom Pastor Bruce Kirk "On May 15th 6PM The Salvation Army will be hosting The Spirit of The Salvation Army dinner at the Coast Inn of the North to honor and recognise the role of our supporters in Prince George. To that end we would like to present THE COMMUNITY AWARD to The Downtown Rotary Club in recognition of their support for the Tree of Lights Campaign. Your club alone raised over $13,000 this year!!" We should be very proud of this accomplishment because we have helped Salvation Army help those who are in need. "There but for the grace of God, go I". |
Aleana KingOur 2010/2011 outbound exchange studet Aleana King will be updating her blog on a regular basis so that we can live her experiences of preparing for and then going and living in France. If you want to read her posts as soon as they come out, register your email address on her blog and you will be notified. |
DERAE's 5th REPORT
Bonjour Rotary,
Happy New Years Canada :)! I hope everyone's new years in Canada were awesome. Here in Belgium I had a great new year. Almost all the exchange students in the country went to Brussels. In the city center there was a big party that we all went to. The city was absolutely crowded with people everywhere. Around 11:30 thousands of people crowded around the center to watch the fireworks at 12. There was also a countdown just like we usually have in Canada.
|
Haiti DisasterAt our very first meeting following the earthquake disaster in Haiti, a very quick decision was made to send $2,000 to a Rotary club in the Dominican Republic who has already been working in Port-au-Prince helping the victims. We felt this was the fastest and the most accountable way to help out. The Federal government will also be matching this donation. Rotarians have big hearts and I know that in addition to this lots of individuals have donated through other sources. Proud to be a Rotarian. |
Rotarian Peter Winters Reports From MexicoSo it may have taken me awhile to really get invested in Rotary, but something caught my attention the other day at a little restaurant in Bucerias that may confirm it. The Owner was wearing his Rotary pin, when I asked him about it I gained an instant friend, who promptly comped our tables meal, spent the next two hours telling us about the area and the things that we absolutely must see. Suffice to say he's invited me to breakfast with Rotary next Wednesday where I look forward to meeting many of the same kind of people. Im proud to be a part of an organization comprised of these people, which I suppose is my contrite way of saying.... see you in February when i get back... at our weekly meetings

YEX Students Take The Polar Bear Plunge |
DERAE's 4th REPORTBonjour!
Ok so it is now my fourth month in Belgium. This month has been very busy but I will try to talk about everything. At the beginning of the month the Rotary Rotex here put on a exotic dinner. Everyone had to make a dish from their country and all the host parents came and tried the food that we made. For Canada we made Bannock, stew, and Pancakes. The dinner was really good and really fun. |
Auction Highlights and Interesting Stats
The 59th Rotary auction is now in the record books as one of our most successful on-line auctions. We had 306 companies donate 486 items with a value of $88,608. We developed and uploaded scripts for those 486 items giving tremendous exposure to the donor and a description of the item. We developed, found or were given 74 ads that will stay on the site until April 1st at which time they will be given the opportunity to continue for another 12 months by donating again an item valued $250 or more. In our analysis we had an astounding 2.6 million hits to the website in November and are continuing to get lots of hits even though the auction is over. Please read on for more info and accolades to those who participated wholeheartly

Derae Truman's 3rd Report
So it has been 3 months so far and I just had a very eventful month. At the beginning of the month there was a fall break so we had no school for one week. For the break my host family took me down to the south of France to visit their family. I LOVE France so much, it is so pretty. We went to a village called Seguret.

Meals on Wheels Chair Needed
We have had an opening for the Meals on Wheels Chair. Speaking with Judy Close of the Prince George Council of Seniors, she says that she coordinates who the meals go to and when the meals are to be delivered. She supplies the Rotarian Chair with the numbers and list and the Rotarian Chair arranges with the Inn to have the meals drawn up and 2 or 3 drivers to deliver the food. Usually 10 to 20 meals. The meals are 4 times a year which is Christmas, Easter, Canada day and Thanksgiving. They are flexible with doing the deliveries a day before, on or a day after. Please let me know if this is something you would like to look into.

TREE OF LIGHTS - OUR CLUB DOES IT AGAIN! (update)
OK I could update this all year but this is it, another $4,000 has been donated and matched to bring our total to $13,810!!!!
Dec 18th story(Just in another $500 has been added and donation is now $9,810) (Original story) At the Christmas luncheon today (Dec 15) the hat was passed around for donations to the Salvation Army Tree of Lights and we put in $4,555. With the club's tradition of matching it, we will be donating a whopping $9,110 this year eclipsing last years record donation. What a great group of community supporters we have. |
MEXICO TRIP FOR TWO WINNER
At today's luncheon (Dec 8th), we drew a name from the 700 plus registrants on the 59th Rotary auction site and her name is Irene Siemens of Prince George. Congratulations Irene and a big thank you for all those who donated and bid on items, we had one of the most successful auctions in recent memory.

Mini Auction/Christmas Gala 2009
Once again George Weinand out did himself with one of our premier galas of the year. $8,400 was raised for the general account of the club and $2,400 for the Rotary Foundation through the auction of Ricky's grader to the successful winner Lorne Calder.
The food which was catered by Goode's Catering was once again exceptional, the wine was of excellent quality and George entertained us for a couple of hours with the many items that he garnered from many generous donors. Exploration Place was beautifully decorated and the ambience was excellent. |
Tri Club Foundation Dinner

A big thank you to the many helpers especially Harold Hartshorne, Sue Calder and Steve Wagar.
|
59th AUCTION IS IN THE RECORD BOOKS
The auction has come to a close of the last remaining items and the numbers are exciting. We hit the $45,000 mark in gross bids for the $80,000 value of items. We more than doubled the amount of registered bidders. We had over 315 Business's donated over 500 items. We have even had 5 enquiries of membership with one now a member and 1 coming for his 2nd meeting. Thank you to the members who gave so much of themselves to make this such a huge success. - Bob

DERAE's 2ND REPORT
Wow! It has already been 2 months since I have first arrived in Belgium. The good news my French is slowly but surely improving, the bad news I'm quickly becoming broke. But that is Europe for you! Things are going very good here in Belgium so far. The weather is getting quite cold, although I guess not as cold as Canada. Also if my
spelling or grammar is wrong in this letter I am sorry because my English is getting horrible. (Bob corrected most)

Carney Hill Playgound Dedication
On Tuesday just before noon President Bob Campbell, Past-President, Ron Fichtner & President-Elect Bob Hlina went to the Carney Hill school playground and officially opened it. After 3 years of paperwork, red tape & finally purchasing and erecting, the playground is complete.
We are so proud to be able to help with this project, it means so much to the school which is the central point of the Carney Hill neighbourhood and provides the children with a place to play safely. This is but another example of the hard word and dedication of Rotarians to make our city a better place. But this wouldn't be possible without the support Rotarians receive from the whole community when they buy their raffle tickets, the business's who donate items to our annual auction and the individual who use the auction to do their shopping. |
Bowling 2009
Tuesday night saw 45 or so Rotarians, family and friends out for a great night of bowling, drinking, eating and laughing. From all accounts it was a very successful outing.

OUR STUDENT IS HERE!!!!
Following a couple of weeks of emails, meetings, calls and faxes; a denied visa application, a customs delay that resulted in a missed flight and 8 hours in our beautiful Vancouver airport, and yes, luggage that didn't find its way here at the same time as Andrea, we are happy to report that Andrea arrived somewhat wrinkled, just a little bit tired but smiling all the while.

LINDSEY FOOTIT'S APRIL REPORT
Hello
Okay, yes it took a long time for me to send this one as I have been without internet for almost a month and have been actually enjoying the time away from it. I have been trying to savor every moment left as the time is coming to an end. Talking about it makes me feel sick... Im definitely not ready to go home yet, but shhh dont tell my mother that. |
GSE TEAM & MOTHERS DAY LUNCHEON
The Group Study Exchange people from England were in Prince George to discover the business and pleasure aspects of Central British Columbia. We had a wonderful Tri-club luncheon for them as well as a celebration of mothers. The meal was a first class buffet that had a massive amount of food which even included crab, prawns and different smoked fish varieties. And the desserts were to die for.....
|
Charter Night
The charter night was a rousing success attended by about 150 Rotarians and guests. The lobster was delicious and of course Goode's Catering was good... The entertainment supplied by Dawn Beaudreau and her students was first class if I do say so myself (my daughter Carly was one of the singers).

LINDSEY FOOTIT'S MARCH REPORT
This has been a pretty lazed back month. I am in school once again. My class this semester is a lot of fun. Sometimes, I go to the grade 12 year and watch classes with some of my friends from last semester. Its funny that I remember and understand more in the grade 12 classes than the grade 11 classes. I guess because its been a while since I was in grade 11. Im finally getting a grasp on the language. After 8 long months, I am finally understanding things better. Its such a relief!! I only hope that I dont lose it all when I return home.

EASTER BUNNY COMES A CALLING!

Read on for email I sent to Mike Benny at The River which he read out on his morning show.

Rotary - An Old Man's club? Not on your life!
Rotary Clubs are becoming rejuvenated and revitalized to serve in the Community and World Community better - so we can make a difference while having fun. Our average age is now in the 40's. Not to mention the growing number of female Rotarians.
