About Ben

Vice President of Education, Ben has worked at KLRU-TV for eight years. Prior to joining KLRU, he served as a teacher, school administrator, and university professor of education. He holds particular interests in language acquisition, uses of technology to foster learning, and serving higher-needs communities. Growing up in rural Upstate New York, he could receive public television but only by going on the roof and turning the antenna, thereby knocking out all the commercial channels. He holds a B.A. degree from Princeton (Classics), a M.Ed. from Harvard (School Administration) and a Ph.D. from UT-Austin (Curriculum & Instruction). Benjamin and his wife Claudia Santamaria have two school-aged children they are raising in a bilingual Spanish-English home.
