When you give to the Rotary Foundation, you're giving to a tax deductible entity, that's why you get a letter from Rotary itemizing your donations so you can use it in your annual tax filing.  While our Rotary club is not a tax exempt entity, we are one of the few clubs who established a 501 c 3 Foundation allowing us to accept gifts.  That means annual sponsorships, and other donations can be made to the TRC 1965 (The Rotary Club 1965 - our club is number 1965, just like the district is number 5870).  As we prepare for the Spaghetti Supper, many of you plan to purchase your tickets and give them away to Barbara or Jennifer for the senior citizens or Temple College students.  This year, when you do that, you'll be making a tax deductible gift to the TRC 1965 and we'll issue a receipt for your tax records.  This only works if you're giving your tickets away, so please specify that option when you pay for your tickets so that we run your purchase through the right account.

Thanks go to the past and present TRC 1965 board members  who have been very active in establishing the Foundation and making it useful to our members. Past President Jonathan Graham was instrumental in setting it up, and Past President Gary Schmidt lead the board for years garnering significant funds for our annual scholarships to Temple College.  Assistant Governor Barbara Bozon revived the board and helped steer us in a new direction with more robust capabilities.  Bill Stokes still manages the scholarship funds and each year a committee selects 5 students to honor with $2000 scholarships at TC.  There is a current opening on the TRC 1965 board, and any member of the club can nominate someone to serve.  Nominations will close at 10 am on Sept. 29.  To make a nomination, please give the name in writing to David Yielding, who is the current Secretary of the TRC 1965 Board.
