Nadia Xenakis – UBC Applied Biology MSc Student

Nadia is currently studying how to humanely control pigeon populations at Translink Skytrain stations using an avian contraceptive (Ovocontrol P). This novel birth control project is the first of its kind in BC and Canada, and could lead to larger humane management programs for urban wildlife conflicts.

Nadia is from Richmond, BC and has a varied background working with animals in different capacities including veterinary clinics and hospitals; wildlife rehabilitation centres; municipal animal shelters; and sanctuaries. She has a strong interest in policy and understanding what informs existing policy and the work that goes into creating new and efficient practices.
