The club supports a candidate to the Adventures in Film and Adventures in Tourism programs.  Our club candidates will share their experience and what they gained from attending the Adventure programs.

Adventures in Tourism - Up to 20 high school students participate in an intense five day exploration of many leading tourism facilities within the beautiful Okanagan Valley. During their packed program, participants are given unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the inner workings of a wide array of some of Canada’s leading destination resorts, golf clubs, wineries and First Nations’ attractions. The students are also treated to the very best hospitality; being welcomed into Rotarian homes for the duration of their stay.

Adventures in FilmThe Camp is part of the Powell River Film Festival specifically designed for young filmmakers. During the day, participants learn from pro media artists, attend interesting seminars by established directors, filmmakers and media experts, gain hands-on, practical experience making videos or animation, and have the opportunity to collaborate with and be inspired by other young filmmakers. In the evenings, participants have the opportunity to enjoy and analyze the Festival films, and socialize with media-savvy Festival attendees and industry people at the receptions. Participants leave the camp with the full experience of video production, including teamwork and troubleshooting, have a short film for their demo reel, and friendships that may well develop into further filmmaking collaborations.  The camp is fast-paced and fun, and our past participants have been thrilled with the outcome!

Non-Rotarians are welcome to attend.  RSVP to: RotaryBurnaby@gmail.com
