New Member Red Badge Introduction
Lisa Tollefson was raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and attended UW Marshfield before taking some time off to work going on to UW Madison. Good thing she did as she met her husband Tim while employed at Shopko. After they married and transferred to Utah, she obtained  a degree in Technology and they moved to Indiana before transferring to Janesville for jobs with Gander Mountain and Home Depot. She noticed an ad for Town Clerk in the newspaper and was appointed to that position in 2009. After taking advanced training and becoming a certified government accountability board election trainer, she was appointed Rock County Clerk and recently won re-election. She loves election commission work- how many of us can say that? They live in Milton with their 2 daughters. Welcome to our Club, Lisa!

  • Greg Dickinson is sending around a sign up sheet for District 6250 Exchange Student weekend at Camp Rotamer 9.20-10.2. The food is all catered- all you need to do is help prep and set it out, and clean up when finished. • Mark Lorenz reminded us that if you have a STudent at any of the 3 High Schools to recommend as a Student of the Month this School Year, let him know. School Counselors make the final determination, but we welcome specific Student suggestions.
  • Kids Against Hunger is having a special, Club sponsored 250,000 meal packaging on Sunday, September 25th. Please sign up to volunteer at http://www.kahrcr.com/250k-event.html and help spread the word. There was an article about the event in the Gazette on Monday.
  • Raffle: Our weekly drawing was won by lucky Frank Scott and JP rolls over.
Rocio Patterson, who was our Outbound Exchange Student  in 2014/15, spoke to us about her experiences and the changes it has has made in her life. She described the process as 1 application, 40 pages, 3 years, 1 Country, 3 Host families, and thousands of memories. She worked closely with Rick Mueller going through the process, and was placed in Sweden. She found the major difference to be the "less is more" philosophy they live by, and perks like being paid  for schooling, free medical, and 'pear everything' a bonus. During her year there she traveled to 15 Countries. She thanked us, "from the bottom of my heart" for this experience and said it has changed her life forever. Her younger Sister will also be going out as an Exchange Student. We owe huge thanks to Rick for all his years of service to this Program- he does a tremendous amount of (unseen) work to get the applicants processed and it is through his efforts that everyone in our Club is credited for having a successful Exchange Program.

When public television's fifth annual American Graduate Day hits airwaves in September, Rotary will be recognized for its work mentoring young people and keeping high school students on track to graduate. Representatives from Monarch School, an elementary and high school for San Diego's homeless youths, will talk about the school's long-running relationship with the Rotary Club of San Diego, California, USA. The school started as an education center in one modest room in 1987. By 1998 it was in danger of losing its lease amid a wave of redevelopment in San Diego's urban core. A local Rotary...

The ratings reflect how efficiently Charity Navigator believes the Foundation will use donations, how well it has sustained programs and services, and its level of commitment to good governance and openness. In the previous rating, the Foundation had received 97 points.
