Guest Speaker: This week’s guest speaker was Scott Boucher. Scott joined the Rotary Club of Bangor, Maine back in 2006.  He has served as the Club Foundation Chair, Secretary and was the President during the 2012-2013 Rotary year.  Scott has served District 7790 as Assistant Governor, Assistant Governor Coordinator and has been a part of the District Training Team.  He currently sits on the District Foundation Committee as the Polio Plus Chair for the Maine side of District 7790.
Scott gave us a brief history of Polio and an update on the status of the virus.

Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years, and we’ve made incredible progress in the fight to rid the world of it forever.
As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we've helped to reduced polio cases by more than 99.9 percent.

It’s crucial to eradicate polio from the last two countries where it remains endemic and to keep other countries polio-free. If all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year.

Scott reminded us to get out in the community this month for World Polio Day. Our club will be walking for Polio on Saturday, October 23rd. Please come to spread awareness and raise money for Polio Plus! Lincoln Ehrlenbach wore his END POLIO NOW T-shirt, Hat and Socks tonight!

Gene reminded everyone about Polio Plus and EREY! Please consider making a donation.

 Respectfully submitted by Ashley Johnson
