Rotary Club of Saint Lucia Turns 50
On Saturday 29th October, the Rotary Club of Saint Lucia, our parent club, celebrates 50 years of service to Saint Lucia.  We start off by wishing them a truly memorable celebration on that evening at Sandals Grand.  The Charter Anniversary is a special one as the number 50 suggests, half a century of doing good - great work folks, we salute you!

As I reflect on the outstanding work that RCSL has done over these many years,

Happening Week ended October 22nd 2016
On Tuesday we followed on from the excellent fellowship of the previous week when we moved off site our regular meeting venue to sample the creole delights at the Golden Taste in Gros Islet.  This week we were honoured to have the company of visiting Rotarian Donald Nelson and his wife Pamela, visiting from Birmingham, UK along with their guest Linda Jn. Marie, mum to Everestus  Jn. Marie Jr., the current District Rotaract Representative (DRR).  We also welcomed back PP Matt who returned from the cold and has jumped straight into the heat of the Golf Tournament preparations.
The meeting was a business meeting and PP Jonathan, Vice President, took charge as President Astrid was unavoidably detained (in court).  PP Jono skillfully piloted us through the various reports of the business meeting and we still managed to have great fun and fellowship.

On Thursday we formally pinned 41 members of the Interact Club of Babonneau Secondary School.  Visit the Facebook page for RCGI for some visuals.  This is a significant step forward for us as we have been struggling to get this club going.  Three members accompanied President Astrid who did an excellent job in moving the proceedings along.  We now await the plan of action from Service Projects Director Lenita.  At least two projects are under immediate consideration and it is vital to keep the momentum going while we have the young peoples' attention.
Great credit goes to the teacher coordinator Ms. Mathurin who has stuck in there even when we were having difficulty getting our end sorted out.
October 31st is the start of World Interact Week.  Members are asked to join the Interactors in celebrating this week.  It is a bit late for them to enter the annual video competition but perhaps this can be a feature of next year.  They will need to start on it this year for sure.

Remember folks, pictures speak 1,000 words.  Take pictures, send stories.  I will be 12 hours ahead of you so send material by Saturday latest if we are to have any chance of publishing next week end.

Rotaractors are helping us sell tickets.  They start their fundraising raffle soon so please pitch in to help them.

Golf Update 22nd October 2016
  • We signed up two additional sponsors this week, namely WINERA at Silver and IBS.
  • The date for the Press Launch is set for November 8th at our Regular meeting.  Sponsors and Press will be invited for 11.45a.m. I believe but we will be guided by the PR team on this.
  • Golf Cocktail will be held at the Audi building.  Primary caterer is Junes Catering Services.
  • Diamonds International will do a free raffle on the night of the Golf Cocktail.  It will cost only personal information for their database.  This will add excitement to the evening without a doubt.
  • With Sponsors becoming engaged, we anticipate a truly wonderful event this year.  Players are excited too, and we are working on a couple of Trini teams to add some Trini colour to the event.
  • Many thanks to PP Judy for the Advertisement that is running on DBS.  We will be on Newsmaker Live soon!
