Our club has a very active Youth Services component, led by Kathi Perkins. The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)  selection process is in full swing! Applications have been picked up from Gorham HS and interviews will take place this week.  Hopefully, there will be applications from Westbrook before they leave on school vacation.  Ethan Johnson, Dave Rolfe, and Kathi will handle the interviews and make the selections.  This year's RYLA will be held at Camp Hinds in Raymond June 26-29 for those completing the 10th grade.

Both high schools have active Interact programs.  Gorham's is the largest club at the school (and the largest in the District!) under the able leadership of Neile Nelson and they continue to be active with all sorts of projects.  They are again planning on doing their own Relay for Life in May and will let us know the link as soon as it is set up.

Westbrook's club has a new advisor in Chris Strout and is steadily growing.  They recently did a winter coat drive for the school resource closet and have started a team to run in Westbrook's community Relay for Life on May 20.  Their team link is  https://secure.acsevents.org/site/STR?fr_id=101980&pg=team&team_id=2608034.  Please support them in their quest to be the highest fundraising team in Westbrook!

Other activities of  Youth Services are the yearly community service  awards to Westbrook 8th graders, Interact Scholarships and  Most Improved Student Scholarships to the two high schools, and vocational scholarships and toolships, handled by Judith Reidman, chair of Vocational Service, and Kathi.  If you are interested in joining this committee, contact Kathi or President Andy Turcotte.
