On Tuesday August 5, a small group attended our weekly meeting. Several topics were discussed, with most of the time dedicated to discussion of meeting format and  member recruitment.

Board Meetings will be held the first Tuesday of every month starting at 10:30AM, just prior to our weekly meeting.

A suggestion was made to increase the length of our meetings by 15 minutes, for a total duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes. Meetings have been this long in the past, and some other clubs use this interval. For now, we will continue with 1 hour meetings and work to tighten up activities to leave enough time for our programs. For example, expect happy dollars and raffle to be done while we eat.

Members are reminded to inform your speaker to keep remarks to 15 minutes to leave time for questions.

Membership was a hot topic of discussion. Jack Kivus, our membership chair was unable to attend, but sent along a list of suggested action items.

Jack noted that a membership committee would be a good idea and Wayne Lopez volunteered to work with Jack on the committee.

Jack is working on a recruitment and informational brochure. Members are asked to send any suggestions to Jack on contents you'd like to see included (jkivus@gannettdrivedental.com).

Once we get back to the WRVC, members are encouraged to bring a guest at least every other month.

The new Scribbler should be e-mailed to as many people as we have addresses for (business associates, schools, local businesses, sponsors and supporters).  If you know someone who might be interested in our Scribbler, please forward the Scribbler to them and send their email address to either Mike Foley (mfoley@me.com) or Christine Johnson (cejinmaine@aol.com) so it can be sent to them directly each week.

Realty Agents should be encouraged to include Rotary information to every new member of our community as part of any welcome package they use.

Have a more active Interact presence (e.g. Interact cookout welcoming new Freshmen to Westbrook and Gorham High Schools).

Invite members from student clubs to our luncheon to share their activities and project plans (e.g. sports teams, band members, service clubs, faculty advisers).

Basically, communicate, communicate, communicate about what Rotary is and does in our community and internationally.
