The mothers and children from Dominican Republic have arrived safely at Ronald MacDonald House in Portland.  Many wonderful people made this possible and thanks go out to all of them.

The wonderful Rotarians of DR and many others, including American Airlines, worked to obtain passports, visas, medical screening, etc to get them on the plane to Boston.  Sarah Taylor worked with the volunteers from the Rotary Club of Portland gathering warm clothing to protect the children and their mothers when they went from 90 degrees in DR to the below zero temperatures of New England.

Paul Emery from the Rotary Club of Westbrook-Gorham, accompanied by Saul Alvarez, braved the cold and dangerous trip down and back in one of the nastiest storms Boston has seen. The Ronald MacDonald House folks waited with open arms to take them in at 3:00AM in the morning. Finally, the great people at Maine Medical and the office of Dr. Quinn found room in the schedule to care for these children.

The wonderful members of Gift of Life New England have been working hard for years to help others. They all gave of their time and energy to help these children have a chance at a full life.

Now that they are finally here, they have had appointments with Dr. Quinn, and with Dr. Donnelly in Scarborough who checked out the children and explained what was going to happen and when.  They have had tests and x-rays at Maine Medical, and Dr Quinn has reviewed those results with them.

Cristal’s operation was scheduled for this past Friday (February 13). That same day, Yeremy was scheduled for a procedure done by Dr. Donnelly to check on a few things in preparation for Yeremy's operation this coming Wednesday (February 18).

Look for further updates as results become available.
