Holyoke Public Library Project

In 2011, the City of Holyoke was undertaking a multi-million dollar expansion of the Holyoke Public Library to bring the current building and offerings into the 21st Century.  As Rotarians, we felt it important to support such a project in our city.  Maureen Ross O'Connell, Literacy Chairperson and Michael Moriarty put together a committee to discuss how we could participate in this project.  The final decision was to pledge $25,000 - $20,000 for the Children's Media Room and $5,000 to purchase a Rotary Clock which would be placed on the grounds of the library.  All funds were raised through our two major fundraisers - the annual Wine Tasting and our Summer Concerts.
